Artisan Assistant

Location: Husab Mine Site

Reports to the Team Leader 

MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB 

To assist qualified Artisan (Diesel Mechanic) in the performance of their day-to-day activities as per standard procedures in line with their trade.

Key Performance Areas:

 Assists Artisan in dismantling/assembling and repairing equipment/ machines under direct supervision.

 Cleans components as required.

 Passes tools over to the Artisan.

 Dismantles minor jobs for checking and assembling by the Artisan.

 Sweeps and cleans working areas, tools and disposes of scrapped parts.

 Selects correct tools from the tool range and performs basic hand skills duties as and when instructed.

 Loads and off-loads materials and articles onto and from vehicles.

 Takes care of tools by keeping Artisan’s tools in good condition and checking for missing or misplacement of tools and equipment.

 Establishes and maintains sound working relationships with co-workers/ team.

 Adheres to all laid down Safety, Health, Environment and Radiation standards and procedures.

 Carries out any lawful instruction and tasks and maintains good housekeeping standards.

Requirements and experience:

 Grade 10 pass with Maths, Physical Science and English

 Grade 10/12 pass with Maths, Physical Science and English with a Level 1 passing all theoretical subjects for specific trade AND a minimum of 6 months practical field training or 

 Grade 10/12 pass with Maths, Physical Science and English with a Level 2 passing all theoretical subjects for specific trade AND a minimum of 6 months practical field training or

 Grade 10/12 pass with Maths, Physical Science and English with a Level 3 passing all theoretical subjects for specific trade AND a minimum of 6 months practical field experience and passed trade test with NTA and obtained National Vocational Certificate/Diploma.

 A valid Code B/BE driver’s license (non-negotiable)
