MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Grade 12/N2 with Mathematics, Physical Science and English.
Completion of (or be in the process of completing) the first year of a Mechanical Engineering Learnership at an approved merSETA training provider.
Potential to develop/acquire the technical skills necessary to successfully complete the qualification.
Good communication skills
Problem solving skills
Good planning and organizational skills
Ability to work outside normal working hours and during emergencies and planned overtime
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:
Service and repair pressure and level control valves e.g. Bermad etc.
Responsible for maintenance and repairs of water & sewer pumps
Responsible for general plumbing
Responsible to maintain Municipal assets, material and equipment
Must be able to weld stainless steel, cast iron and mild steel
Brazing & gas welding
Fabricate fittings for pump stations and pipes e.g. brackets
Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repairs on equipment e.g. gearboxes, pumps & couplings
Mechanical fit gearboxes, pumps, pump/ motor couplings
Liaise with contractors in turning parts
Responsible for record keeping of maintenance work
Responsible for on-site health and safety
Responsible for welding section at depot
Must have sound understanding of telemetry
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
• Mechanical equipment maintenance and installation
• Supports achievement of production performance levels
• Ensure that safety regulations are adhered to
IMPORTANT TO NOTE
• Work standby, overtime and shifts
• Own transport
