As a Geotechnical Officer you will be responsible for conducting routine on-the-face quality control of ground support installation processes and systems; collect and monitor data for compliance to ground support installation standards and processes; collect instrumentation and ground movement data; routine rockmass mapping of active working areas.

Job Description 

Your role will include: 

• conduct routine on-the-face quality control of ground support installation processes and systems. 

• monitor and collect data for compliance to ground support installation standards and processes. 

• collects instrumentation and ground movement data 

• routine rockmass mapping of active working areas. 

Qualifications 

• Grade 12 / Relevant NQF Level 4 qualification.

• Chamber of Mines Strata Control Certificate (advantageous)

• Certificate of competency – Competent A or Miner’s certificate (advantageous)

Additional requirements: 

• Valid drivers’ license (EB)

• Be prepared to work shifts, do standby duties, call-outs, and work overtime as per the role requirements

• Successfully obtain a Medical Certificate of Fitness to work underground

• Your consideration for employment is subject to:

o SAPS Criminal Record verification and a valid EB / Code 8 Drivers License.

o Qualifications Verification. 

o Relevant Psychometric and Technical Assessments

Role Specific knowledge and experience: 

• Minimum 1 years’ experience as Quality Control Monitor or similar aligned role at a mine e.g Geology Observer, Survey Monitor, Plant Monitor etc).

• Knowledge of typical ground support quality control processes e.g., concrete cube tests; bolt pull tests (advantageous).

• Basic geology knowledge and rockmass behaviour and associated ground support measures (advantageous).
