 APPRENTICES x 3 - ELECTRICAL

Booysendal Platinum is situated on the border of the Limpopo and Mpumalanga Provinces near the towns of Mashishing (Lydenburg), Roossenekal and Steelpoort. The mine is located on the southernmost exposure of the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex with eighty percent of its resources in the Mpumalanga Province. The Mine has a board and pillar mining layout and operates with trackless mechanised mining equipment. Booysendal is a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Northam Platinum Limited, a well-established, mid-tier independent and integrated platinum group metals producer with a strong tradition of innovation and technical expertise in the sector

Key responsibilities include: 

• Completion of all required theoretical modules for the trade

• Undergoing intensive on-the-job training and other related training

• Providing support to the production process with adequate levels of availability and reliability

• Demonstrating the ability to practically conduct maintenance and installations

• Acquiring problems solving and trouble shooting skills

• Adhering to plant rules and regulations

The ideal candidate should possess the following: 

• Minimum N3 electrical engineering, with Mathematics & Physical Science.

• A good electrical understanding at a basic level

• Must be able to identify colours

• Basic computer skills

• Good interpersonal & communication skills, positive attitude, able to use own initiative, team oriented, systematic and well organized

• Ability to work overtime and shifts when required

• Drivers license code B, EB or C1

• Medium Voltage Competency skills (certificate)

• Medical Certificate of Fitness

• Comfortable working in confined spaces

• Not colour blind

• No major sensory restrictions

• Must be familiar with risk assessment procedures

Key performance areas

• Electrical equipment maintenance and installation

• Supports achievement of production performance levels

• Ensure that safety regulations are adhered to

• Work standby, overtime and shifts

• Own transport
