As part of our youth development strategy, Transnet is offering Work Integrated Learning for students requiring workplace training opportunity to complete their P1-P2 in order to enable them to obtain their qualifications in the below mentioned disciplines.

Disciplines:

• Civil • Mechanical

• Electrical • Industrial

• Electronics • Metallurgy (Physical)

• Chemical • Metrology

• Analytical Chemistry

Minimum Requirements

 Grade 12/N2 with Mathematics, Physical Science and English.

Good communication skills

Problem solving skills

Good planning and organizational skills

Ability to work outside normal working hours and during emergencies and planned overtime

Key Performance Areas:

 Service and repair pressure and level control valves e.g. Bermad etc.

 Responsible for maintenance and repairs of water & sewer pumps

 Responsible for general plumbing

 Responsible to maintain Municipal assets, material and equipment

 Must be able to weld stainless steel, cast iron and mild steel

 Brazing & gas welding

 Fabricate fittings for pump stations and pipes e.g. brackets

 Mechanical fault finding and breakdown repairs on equipment e.g. gearboxes, pumps & couplings

 Mechanical fit gearboxes, pumps, pump/ motor couplings

 Liaise with contractors in turning parts

 Responsible for record keeping of maintenance work

 Responsible for on-site health and safety

 Responsible for welding section at depot

 Must have sound understanding of telemetry

• Mechanical equipment maintenance and installation

• Supports achievement of production performance levels

• Ensure that safety regulations are adhered to

Important to note

• Work standby, overtime and shifts

• Own transport

Artisan, Senior Artisan, Specialist Artisan, Master Artisan Technician, Technologist, Engineer Foreman, Area Manager, Operations/Maintenance Manager

Learning Practitioner (LP), Principal LP, Learning Manager, Senior Learning Manager Priority will be given to South African Citizens placement will be in line with Transnet
