Booysendal Platinum is situated on the border of the Limpopo and Mpumalanga Provinces near the towns of Mashishing (Lydenburg), Roossenekal and Steelpoort. The mine is located on the southernmost exposure of the eastern limb of the Bushveld Complex with eighty percent of its resources in the Mpumalanga Province. The Mine has a board and pillar mining layout and operates with trackless mechanised mining equipment. Booysendal is a subsidiary of the JSE-listed Northam Platinum Limited, a well-established, mid-tier independent and integrated platinum group metals producer with a strong tradition of innovation and technical expertise in the sector.

Role requirements

The successful candidate must have the following basic require?ments:

• Grade 12 / NQF 4 equivalent

• Section 13 / 26 (D) Mechanical / Electrical Trade Certificate 

• Supervisory Certificate

• N3 Qualification with five (5) years’ experience as an Artisan 

(Mechanical / Electrical)

• One (1) year experience as Engineering Foreman / Two (2) years’ as relieving foreman in a trackless mining environment 

(advantageous)

• Working knowledge of health and safety procedures, policies, records etc.

• Valid driving license code B,EB or C1

• Medical Certificate of Fitness

• Basic Computer literacy (Word, Excel and Outlook)

Key performance areas

• The Foreman - TMM must assist to ensure compliance with the legal requirements as set out in the Minerals Act (MA) & Regula?tion, the Mines Health and Safety Act (MHSA) and Regulations

• Compiling and controlling necessary budget requirements in order to adequately maintain all equipment and infrastructure in his area of responsibility

• Ensuring that through a proper maintenance and planning sys?tem, all equipment and infrastructures are adequately main?tained in order to provide for optimum availability and utilisation thereof to obtain production targets

• The job holder builds a motivated and unified performance driv?en team and manages/liaises with service providers, customers and other interested and effected parties, ensuring customer satisfaction and sound relations and is also responsible for good house keeping

• Responsible to manage all staffing matters relating to supervi?sion including discipline, training, development and succession planning.
